When Brett purchased his townhouse, he saw potential but knew it needed a complete overhaul to match his modern lifestyle.

He envisioned an open, inviting space that blended functionality, comfort, and style. That’s where Local Unlimited stepped in. In just over three months, we transformed his townhouse from dated and cramped into a stunning, cohesive home that exceeded his expectations.

The Challenge

Brett’s townhouse had great bones but felt dark, dated, and disjointed.

The original layout was compartmentalized, with narrow hallways and small, separate rooms. Key areas like the kitchen and dining room were completely closed off from one another, limiting flow and natural light. The living room, which should have been a centerpiece for relaxation and entertainment, lacked personality and functionality, with an outdated fireplace and no clear design direction.

The Project Required

Our Approach

We began by collaborating with Brett to understand his needs, preferences, and lifestyle. Together, we mapped out a vision that combined practicality and personality. Key elements included:

Open Concept Layout

To create a more seamless flow, we removed the wall separating the kitchen and dining room. In its place, we built a functional peninsula that offered additional counter space, storage, and a casual seating area perfect for meals or entertaining.

Kitchen Renovation

The heart of the home was reimagined with custom cabinetry, quartz countertops, and modern stainless-steel appliances. The new peninsula became a key focal point, blending the kitchen and dining areas into one cohesive space.

Custom Media Wall

To enhance the living room’s functionality and style, we built a sleek media wall with an integrated soundbar and hidden wiring. This feature created a clean, modern look while enhancing the home’s entertainment experience.

Fireplace Transformation

The outdated fireplace was completely overhauled to become the centerpiece of the living room. We added a backlit onyx niche above the firebox, combining warmth with a touch of luxury. This statement feature immediately became a conversation starter and elevated the room’s overall aesthetic.

Custom Storage Solutions

We maximized every inch of the townhouse by incorporating built-ins, hidden storage, and redesigned closets to keep the space organized and clutter-free.

Finishing Touches

New wide-plank hardwood flooring, recessed lighting, and a neutral color palette brought warmth and sophistication to every room. We also added a statement staircase with modern railings to tie the design together.

The Result

The finished townhouse was unrecognizable. The open floor plan allowed natural light to flood the space, while the modern finishes and thoughtful design details created a cohesive, stylish look.

Brett especially loved how the removal of the kitchen wall and the addition of the peninsula transformed his living space into the centerpiece of his home. The custom media wall and transformed fireplace added functionality and elegance, giving the living room a wow factor. The backlit onyx niche was a particular highlight, bringing warmth and luxury to the space.
