At Local, we believe every project tells a story, and the Palmerston Primary Bath transformation is one we’re especially proud of. In this 120-year-old home, our mission was to turn a challenging unfinished space into a functional, elegant primary bathroom. Here’s how we brought Mark and Michelle’s vision to life.

The Challenge

Mark and Michelle had a dream of creating a primary bathroom off their bedroom, but the space was left incomplete by a previous contractor. The framing was done, but the homeowners were frustrated, overwhelmed, and unsure how to move forward. The challenge didn’t stop there:

  • The small space required creative design solutions to maximize functionality.
  • A new drain needed to be installed, requiring us to cut into the living room ceiling and basement flooring.
  • The family was living in the home with two young children during the renovation, so keeping the workspace clean and minimizing disruption was critical.

Our Approach

We started by analyzing and refining the existing framing to ensure it fit the design and layout of the new bathroom. From there, we worked closely with the homeowners to make key design decisions, including tile selection, finishes, and custom touches to optimize the small space.

Plumbing and HVAC
We coordinated with our trusted plumbers to install a new drain and vent system, repairing and blending all affected areas seamlessly.

Thoughtful Design
Using space-saving solutions like recessed nooks and Fittes products, we created a clean, modern aesthetic while maximizing functionality.

Attention to Detail
Matching finishes and materials ensured the bathroom felt like it had always been part of the home.

The Result

The finished bathroom is a testament to the power of thoughtful design and skilled craftsmanship. Clean, modern, and functional, it blends seamlessly with the character of this historic home while meeting the family’s needs. Mark and Michelle were thrilled, sharing how the result far exceeded their expectations.

Key Highlights

  • A beautiful, functional bathroom created from an unfinished space.
  • Seamless integration of new plumbing and HVAC systems without disrupting the home’s aesthetics.
  • Custom features that optimize the small space while maintaining style.
